Hi, I’m Slash Coleman. I share a name with a famous guitarist and a symbol found in grammar books. It's the perfect name for a guy who does upholstery. I specialize in on-site gym upholstery in Richmond, Virginia which means I travel with all the tools I need to work at your location. Both my grandfather's owned sewing machines. One was a tailor at Miller & Rhodes and the other taught upholstery at St. Emma's Military Academy in Powhatan. My family has owned “Tinkers” on Westwood Avenue for over 40 years and I grew up in the family business. I’ve kept my upholstery business small on purpose. How Does On-site Upholstery Work?
I'm a mobile upholsterer which means I stay on the premises of your gym or office and only work on one piece of equipment at a time. My set-up is small enough to fit on a standard office desk: I travel with my Sailrite sewing machine, an electric staple gun, your fabric and a small bag. The only thing I need is space in a low traffic area, a chair, a trash can and an outlet. I'm used to working around patrons in busy gyms during regular business hours, enjoy listening to the "I once I had a sewing machine" stories, and depending on the size of the job, I can remove and reupholster most gym pads in about 15 minutes.

Before the downturn reupholstery was done mainly to prolong the life of a business investment, but with recent COVID concerns, gyms, clinics, dental offices and hospitals are looking for ways to ensure the health and safety of patients, visitors, and staff. Infection control is no joke. A simple rip or tear in surface upholstery can lead to bacterial or viral contamination of the underlying foam padding and  transfer  from patient to patient. Why take a chance; It costs far less to reupholster a gym pad or a patient exam table than it does to replace it.

My set-up is small enough to fit in the tiniest dental bay and since I typically schedule work during the weekend (when your office is closed) I'm able to service your dental equipment with little-to-no downtime and minimal disruption to your office.
